The glass shattered on the ground, small pieces are here and there. It is a sigh of relief that the artwork is still safe. This is completely normal at the first sight but at the next moment, I realized that maybe painting was getting too frustrated in that glass jail. Isn’t an artist get the same frustration when he/she gets trapped into a single style? Isn’t a tragedy that an artist has to watch the all his surrounding with the same perspective? It is a complete tragedy of life that we see the thing through the glass of the society that completely caged us for our whole life and we frustrate ourselves to see the outer world without any restrictions.
This is completely different and normal. It could be craziness to look upon the world with the freedom of our eyes where we choose to say or see whatever it is and above all, we choose to see whatever it is without any already prescribed notes in our mind. Well, we all are looking for the same thing but the perspective is different, the glass in front of us keeping it changed and reality is way different than our sight. This is the reason we need artists who can show us the right thing in the right way.
Watching complete truth
The artworks of Vikash Kalra break the glasses in front of our eyes to make us see the thing the way they are. The work of an artist should shatter the boundaries whether it is visible or invisible there is nothing which an artist could not change. The whole society runs behind the artists to show them the right path but it is only the brave ones who have the gut to speak and act according to the truth that can shatter the glass and made their audience free.
The reality is the compilation of ones thinking and perspective but Vikash Kalra’s arts are completely different things. They are amazingly comfortable in the reality and completely develop the truth from all dimensions to show the audience their true self. It is completely fine for Vikash Kalra to show the ugly truth without any kind of if and but.
The artist’s works are defined by hard work and patience; they are never defined by beauty and those who define the art base on beauty cannot be more wrong because beauty is not an invariable factor. It changes from person to person. There could be something beautiful for one and ugly for another. This fact is completely known by the artist Vikash Kalra and his works evolve according to this fact only and that is the reason he doesn’t focus much on the beauty but the reality of his subjects.
Scientifically and psychologically composite art
Artist intuition plays a very important role but if the intuition is showing the wrong path then there could be only one possible way to get there and that is choosing the truth above all. A real artist should choose the reality and not distort them. They should have the gut focus on all angles of the world without their own assumptions, it is clearly mentioned in the beginning that the perspectives will distort the real meaning of the art but the factors that are completely invariable and artistically true are some of the factors which will be scientifically and psychologically composite according to the world views.
Creating art with a perspective of one eye is easy but completing one without any perspective but only for the sake of art is something that creates the most valuable assets for the art world.
Vikash Kalra is a self-taught artist and writer based in New Delhi whose work has been exhibited across India and is held in several private and corporate collections.
